Anne Kirk

Dr. Anne Kirk is the Director of Women’s Self Protection for Krav Maga Universal.  She has pioneered a Women’s Self Protection program teaching women how to avoid the fight with situational awareness, boundary setting, and intuitive thinking as well as win the fight if needed using the principles of Krav Maga and human bio mechanics.

 

Anne is a certified Krav Maga instructor with Krav Maga Universal and a graduate of Wingate Institute's Krav Maga program in Israel. She is a Black Belt in Krav Maga under Krav Maga Universal and cross trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai.  She has been asked to lead Women’s Self Defense Seminars throughout the United States, as well as invited as an instructor to teach men and women how to use the body’s structure to improve self defense training.

 

Anne has a vast background in body mechanics and movement.  She earned her BA in Dance in 2004 (Goucher College), and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2010 (Temple University).  Anne has continued her study of human movement becoming certified in Selective Functional Movement Systems, Barefoot Training, and Kettlebell coaching through Strong First.

 

Beyond teaching Women’s Self Protection, Anne owns a Krav Maga school with her husband teaching both children and adults, assists local law enforcement and military with scenario based training, practices Physical Therapy, and facilitates advancements and improvements in self defense education.  

 

Anne is also one of the core instructors for numerous International Krav Maga Camps where she teaches alongside former Special Forces, professional fighters, and Counter Terrorism professionals from the USA, Israel, UK and Italy.

 

Most recently, Anne was honored to accept a position on the board of directors for The American Women's Self Defense Association.
